Ballygalget GAC Community 10k and 5k Run/walk
On Easter Sunday morning Ballygalget GAC held their Community 5k and 10k road race. In dry but slightly breezy conditions the route covered the country roads around the Ards Peninsula. Three EDAC runners opted for the 10k race. Following his PB at the Titanic 10k last week, Adam Withers was hoping for more of the same. He had a strong run coming in 3rd male with a time of 36min 36sec. Dee Murray was next across the line finishing 6th, another great run from Dee after Titanic last week. Sharon Madine who just the day before had completed her last long run, (22 miles in preparation for the Belfast Marathon), was second Lady across the line with a time of 46min 02sec. Sharon must have been pleased with the result, a great weekend’s training before the big day.
Next on the running calendar is the popular Hill and Dale series, starting this Thursday in Castlewellan Forest Park. Good luck to all runners taking up this brilliant challenge and if you’re sitting there on the sofa again, thinking maybe next year, what are you waiting for, just get out there and go for it, sure the craic will be mighty!
