On Friday evening runners from all over Ireland made their way to Carlingford, for the annual 5k road race hosted by Glenmore AC. This event starts just outside the town and makes its way along the back roads and country lanes, finishing in the main street of this picturesque part of the Cooley Peninsula , with a flat fast course and good conditions; some great times were on the cards. East Down AC had two athletes competing and were looking for some quick times. Adam Withers who has had some great results of late was the first EDAC vest across the finish line in 39th position with a time 16 min 28 sec, a great run against some strong competition, not too far behind him was Neil Curran in 43rd spot clocking 16 min 33 sec. Both great times with Hugh Armstrong from Ballina AC in first place in an amazing time of 14 min 39 sec. A great event with 500 runners and a lot of local support around the course, well done Glenmore AC.
