Glenarm 5k, 10k and Half Marathon Castle Challenge
On Saturday Born 2 Run Events organised this year’s Glenarm Castle Challenge. Runners had a range of distance options comprising of: Half Marathon, 10K and 5K races and a 10k walk. Glenarm Castle provides a great backdrop with the impressive castle dating back to 1636. This working estate offers runners a scenic mix of forest trails, farmland and views along the Glenarm river. The Half Marathon was the first race of the day and conditions were good. EDACs Cheryl Denvir took her position at the start and she crossed the finish line in a time of 1hr 51min 47sec (64th position). Cheryl should be happy with her efforts bearing in mind she had just stepped in at the last minute when a place became available.
The 10k race was next off with husband and wife Paul and Alice Bear Clarkson taking up the challenge. Alice is currently preparing for the London Marathon so was looking for a good run out. Both had great races, Paul finished in 4th place with a time of 38min 26sec. Not far behind him, Alice was the first lady home finishing in 6th position with a time of 38min 31sec, great preparation for the big day in a couple of weeks time!
